As it appears in my bio, I am a physical actor as well as photojournalist. Well it had to come the day when the two careers would clash together. Today, I left for a rehearsal of an upcoming summer production. As I went out of the house i took my camera gear cuz it was a beautiful day and I wanted to head out for a photo-walk after rehearsal. Our rehearsals took place(and I say took because clearly we are going to have to change location) at the Field-house of the Chicago Indian Boundary Park.
In the middle of rehearsal, Lori, one of the cast members comes in and says…”hey guys, I just wanted to let you know that it smells like somethings is burning”. Immediately our director comes back through the door and says “the fire is in the building, get out ! As Lori and I later discussed, it was difficult to react because you are so used to hear people saying …”leave everything behind and just get out…” and as it turns out, you don’t really feel like leaving everything behind…actually the whole cast took as much as they could of their belongings as we left the building. Naturally the first thing I thought of taking with me was my camera to start shooting the incident.
Needless to say the whole experience was surreal and there is a lot I could comment on but for me, the experience was more about switching in a split second from actor to photojournalist. Kinda, sort of, ended up feeling like a superhero myself…at least for having to change from one “identity” to the other.
I will link up more images from the fire later….

Ah… sitting by the window and waiting. How many times, if not still today, do I sit and wait…or just ponder. I remember still the days where cell phones where just the fancy phone your father used for work and news from your far away friends came on regular mail. People used to sit down and wait like this by the window or next to the phone…and yet today we still wait but we are moving as we wait for news, emails and notifications that come through a mobile phone… cuz, well you just have to move and there’s not good enough a reason to ever stop…

I live in a dream and I only speak through images…well that’s not true, whoever has met me, even for a short moment, more likely than not,he/she or it will tell you that I talk…A LOT. Photography is however one of the most eloquent forms I find I can express or share a feeling or a particular moment… A teacher once taught me that one of the biggest secrets of great photographers was that they show only their best images…I find my best images are the ones, which go beyond the technique, the images that take me somewhere and I don’t want to come back…and then I dwell in that dreamy state and I feel the image has said all the things I wanted to say.
